  Higher Education - Completing the UCAS application form

  • Your UCAS application may be the only chance you have of selling yourself, so you must ensure that you complete it as well as you can.
  • You can apply for up to five courses on your UCAS application.
  • No more than four courses for Medicine, Dentistry or Veterinary Science courses can be entered on your UCAS form – the other two slots can be used for closely linked courses e.g. Biochemistry, Animal Science or may be left blank.
  • Listing courses – courses must be listed in the order they appear in the UCAS Directory.
  • Applications must be returned to UCAS by 15 January 2009
  • This is not true if you wish to apply to Oxford and Cambridge or for Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science. These must be received by 15 October 2008.
  • You need to get your application in as early as you can – aim for the Autumn half term. You can apply up until the 30 June 2009, but you will only be considered at the discretion of institutions.
  • You must return the original form – faxes and copies are not acceptable.
  • If you apply on or after 1 July 2009 you will be entered into the ‘Clearing’ system (see below).
  • You could get lots of help from your school or college with completing the UCAS form. Your Careers Adviser will also be pleased to help you.
