Higher Education - Completing the UCAS application form
Your UCAS form may be the only chance you have of selling yourself, so you must ensure that you complete it as well as you can.
You can apply for up to five courses on your UCAS form.
No more that four courses for Medicine, Dentistry or Veterinary Science courses can be entered on your UCAS form – the other two slots can be used for closely linked courses e.g. Biochemistry, Animal Science or may be left blank.
Listing courses – courses must be listed in the order they appear in the UCAS Directory.
Applications must be returned to UCAS by 15 January 2008.
This is not true if you wish to apply to Oxford and Cambridge or for Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science. These must be received by 15 October 2007.
You need to get your form in as early as you can – aim for the Autumn half term. You can apply up until the 30 June 2008, but you will only be considered at the discretion of institutions.
You must return the original form – faxes and copies are not acceptable.
If you apply on or after 1 July 2008 you will be entered into the ‘Clearing’ system (see below).
UCAS forms will be issued early in September 2007, but you may be able to practice on a ‘dummy’ form before this.
If you complete the form by hand, fill it in neatly using only a black ballpoint pen. The form is copied and reduced in size when it is sent to institutions and your writing must be clear.
If typing the form the type size should be at least 12 point and in a standard font.
You could get lots of help from your school or college with completing the UCAS form. Your Careers Adviser will also be pleased to help you.
