|  The Quality Award is available to recognise high quality, effective practice in both careers education and guidance and work related learning within any establishment where 14-19 year old students are being educated, including secondary schools, FE colleges, special schools and off-site units.
Its principal aims are:
- To ensure that all young people in Wales have an equal entitlement to excellent careers education and guidance and work related learning
- To acknowledge and celebrate high quality careers education and guidance and work related learning
- To act as a mechanism for supporting the continuing improvement of standards in careers education and guidance and work related learning
- The CWQA modules are available to all schools, colleges and units across Wales
The CWQA is the centre point of Careers Wales’ drive for higher standards in careers education and guidance and work related learning.
The award has built upon the best aspects of the previous local quality awards and can be viewed as the central supportive element amongst a range of current policies and initiatives including:
- The statutory requirement for CEG at KS3 and KS4 as well as post 16
- The statutory requirement for the provision on work related learning activities (from September 2004)
