Evaluation and review are integral processes within the curriculum planning and development cycle. The curriculum continues to change, as do our students and the learning programmes we provide need to keep up with these changes in order to be effective.
'Evaluation is the purposeful gathering, analysis and discussion of evidence from relevant sources about the quality and impact of provision.' Paul Davies, CSET
Evaluation is not easy and needs to be well planned. Neither can all aspects of a programme be evaluated regularly. It is vital to identify the key, major elements of the programme and to devise user-friendly assessment methods which can be used each time these activities run. Obvious examples are work experience, modules of work and key careers event. It is also advisable to select one or two other areas to evaluate each year, perhaps these are giving concern or have not been evaluated before or for some time.
