Careers Wales Mark
Why work towards the Careers Wales Mark?
The Careers Wales Mark has been developed following the introduction of the framework for Careers and the world of work (CWW) as part of the Revised Curriculum (2008).
There will be considerable benefit gained from being involved in the process. Establishments will carry out the auditing and development planning outlined in the supplementary guidance document for CWW and will self evaluate against the Estyn Common Inspection Framework. The Careers Wales Mark will support aspects of the School Effectiveness Framework / Quality and Effectiveness Framework for post-16 learning and complement the increasing maturity of approaches to self-evaluation.
What do establishments think about the Careers Wales Mark?
“Through the process of achieving the Careers Wales Mark, Ysgol y Gogarth has been encouraged to ‘pause and reflect’ on its Careers curriculum. This had led to a plan, and the plan to better outcomes for our learners. We continue to think about it, and the process continues!” - Jon Goodwin, Ysgol y Gogarth, Llandudno.
“As I approach the completion stages of the Careers Wales Mark, I have been convinced of the value of going through this process of both review and planning. It has meant a certain amount of additional work but this was a small price to pay compared to the benefits.” - Keith G Harries, Ysgol John Bright, Llandudno.
