Minimum wage
Most workers have to be paid a certain amount of money for each hour that they work. This is called the minimum wage.
Employers can pay you more than the minimum wage but they can’t pay you less.
There is a minimum wage for:
- People who have left school and are under 18
- People aged 18 -21
- People over 22
The government looks at the minimum wage every year.
If it is increased, it goes up in October.
