Careers Wales plays a central role in making
the most of people's career potential,
working with its partners in education, employment and training
to:
- help individuals of all ages to make realistic career choices and find work or training
- support local schools and colleges in delivering
their careers and work related curriculum
- assist local employers in their career
development activities such as filling vacancies,
training employees, and resettling redundant staff.
Working with
Individuals
- We can offer you careers advice and guidance
whatever your age
- Our Careers Libraries have information
about jobs, careers, courses in Further and Higher Education
and the local employment scene. You can also use our computers
to research information using the Internet or careers software.
- We have a vacancy service to help you
find the job or training place you want.
- Our free phone helpline, learndirect,
on 0800 100 900, will answer your enquiries on local and
national courses and training opportunities.
- We can provide one to one support on confidence building
and motivation to help you access education, training and
jobs through our Youth Gateway and New
Deal Gateway programmes.
Support
for Schools and Colleges
- We can advise you on innovative ways to
deliver careers education.
- We assist schools and colleges in the development
of their careers information provision.
- We can support and advise your school or
college to work towards the Careers Wales Quality
Award.
- We provide professional careers
guidance to your students through individual interviews,
group activities and other related events.
- Our Education Business Division
provides activities like work experience, mentoring, business
awareness and enterprise days which prepare young people
for the world of work.
- We provide training and support on Careers
Education and work related education for your staff,
including through teacher placements in business and industry.
Help for employers
- We offer a range of tailored business
support services including help with recruitment
and selection, workforce development and redundancy counselling.
- We can inform you about the latest
changes in education and training.
- We can give you advice and support on
how to work more closely with local schools and
colleges.
Working in Partnership
- We work in partnership
with a wide range of organisations including educational
establishments, training providers, CCETs, youth services,
Job Centre Plus, local councils, DCELLS and the voluntary
sector.
- We are always keen to expand the number
of organisations with which we work in partnership. If you
