Careers Wales plays a central role in making
the most of people's career potential,
working with its partners in education, employment and training
to:
- help individuals of all ages to
make realistic career choices and find
work or training (a recent survey with adult customers revealed that 97% found the guidance they received useful or very useful and 95% were clear or very clear about their future plans after speaking to a Careers Adviser)
- support local schools and colleges in delivering their careers and work related curriculum
- assist local employers in their career development activities such as filling
vacancies, training employees, and resettling redundant
staff

Whatever your age
and whatever your needs, Careers Wales can help you to think
about different career options, make informed career decisions
and find suitable work or training.
- In need of unbiased careers
information and advice? Then visit one of our
careers shops where our friendly staff and careers libraries
are brimming with up-to-date information about occupations,
courses, jobs and the local employment scene.
- Are you out of work and need specialist
careers guidance? Book an appointment with one of our specialist careers staff to discuss your
situation and career possibilities.
- Are you in school or at college? We offer careers guidance to all young
people through individual interviews, group activities,
and other career-related events.
- Are you an adult thinking of changing
your career or being forced to change? Find out what
you are good at or which other careers might suit you using our psychometric and personality assessments services.
- Want to do your own research? You
can use our computers to get career ideas
from the Internet or special careers software.
- Are you 16 to 19 and looking for work
or training? We can help you to find the job or training
place you want through our vacancies service.
- Are you 16-19, and need some support
before taking your next step? Meet new people and have
fun on our Youth Gateway programme. This
is designed to help you improve your skills and confidence
through jobsearch, mentoring and teambuilding. We also work
with small groups of students in schools.

Working
with Schools and Colleges
We work closely with local schools and colleges
throughout Wales to support them in delivering their careers
activities.
- Improving Education Business Partnerships (EBP) through co-ordinating activities such as work experience, mentoring, business awareness and enterprise days to prepare young people for the world of work.
- Advising on innovative ways to deliver careers and work related education and other careers-related
aspects of the curriculum.
- Improving the quality of careers activities through the Careers Wales Quality Award.
- Assisting careers teachers and lecturers in their continuing professional development, including
industrial placements in business and industry.

Working with
Employers
We assist local employers in their career
development activities such as filling vacancies, training
employees and resettling redundant staff. We also:
- offer a vacancy service for the recruitment of young people
- advise employers through our Work Force Development initiative
- inform employers of the latest changes in education and training
- provide a range of tailored business support
services including help with recruitment
and selection, workforce development and
redundancy counselling
- provide advice and support on how to work more closely with local schools and colleges.

Working with
partners
Currently we work closely with a range of
other partner organisations in the community concerned with
promoting education, employment and training opportunities.
These include Community Consortia for Education & Training
(CCETs), Young People's Partnerships, training providers,
youth services, Job Centre Plus, local councils, The National
Council for Education and Learning, and the voluntary sector.
We are always keen to expand the number and
range of partner organisations we work with. If you feel that
