The ceremony was opened by Trina Neilson, Chief Executive Careers Wales Gwent, and awards were presented by the Deputy Minister for Skills, John Griffiths. Delegates were also given a demonstration of developments on our website, careerswales.com.
Eleven schools in the Mid Glamorgan and Powys area received the award.
Afon Taf High School, Ysgol Cedewain, Cynffig Comprehensive School, Greenfield Special School, Heronsbridge Special School, Llandrindod High School, Ogmore Comprehensive School and Pontypridd High School all received the award for both the Careers Education and Guidance and the Work Related Education modules.
Y Pant Comprehensive School, Tonyrefial Comprehensive School and St. John Baptist Church in Wales High School received the award for the Work Related Education module. All three schools have previously achieved the Careers Education and Guidance module.
The Careers Wales Quality Award is now being revised in line with the new Careers and the World of Work Framework. It will focus on continuous improvement hence its new name: Careers Wales Continuing Improvement Mark. This is being developed and piloted at present and will be launched in September 2009. The Mark links to the Common Inspection Framework and will interest every school or college looking to improve their careers and work related provision.
