Careers Wales Cardiff and Vale is responsible for the local delivery of:
- The statutory Careers Service (Youth Guidance Services)
- The Education Business Partnership (EBP)
- Youth Gateway
- Adult Guidance Services including Workforce Development
- The Learning and Careers Advice helpline for the whole of Wales
- The Employment Unit of the National Probation Service (South Wales)
We work in partnership with a wide range of organisations including schools, colleges, training providers, employers, voluntary community groups, the Welsh Assembly Government, Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan Councils, Jobcentre Plus and the Welsh Refugee Council.
Company representatives participate in various local and national working groups including local Community Consortia for Education and Training, Young People's Partnerships and 14 -19 Networks.
The company employs over 160 staff and is funded by the Welsh Assembly Government.
Other activities are delivered under contract to various organisations including a Youth Justice Board contract working with the Youth Offending Service in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan and a contract with Jobcentre Plus to provide support as part of the Want2Work scheme.
Our work contributes to the Welsh Assembly Government's Lifelong Learning Agenda encouraging people to engage in learning, skills, and career development, leading to economic prosperity for individuals and the nation as a whole. Working with partners to develop programmes which encourage social inclusion is central to our work.
